In addition, Geo-Council's projects and activities can help fulfill the Community-Service and Skill requirements of the award, with added convenience for the award participants as they are usually held in NYP.
For Residential Projects (Proposed by Geo-Council):
The Air-Con Policy Project: This project seeks to survey and study the Air-Con system of NYP and the feedbacks of NYPian regarding their air-conditioned environment, and then recommend a beneficial policy for NYPians.
The Exhibition Project: This project would be a collaboration between SEC and Geo-Council to organize a 1-2 week exhibition in NYP on intrigued, intricate, interesting topics such as Climate-Change, Global-Warming, Biodiversity, Pollution, Natural Disasters, Water, Oceans, Adaptations, Mitigation, and many more....
The Publicity Project: This project seeks to creatively and innovation publicize to NYPians on environmental issues and promote awareness and knowledge on green matters....
For the Community-Service and Skill Requirements (Activities started by Geo-Council):
The Eco-Garden (a truly Environmental Garden in our campus, with over 40 types of plants): Students get to learn through hands-on practice at the Eco-Garden, guided by a detailed syllabus developed by Geo-Council. Students can get to learn about plants, planting, gardening, building, composting, designing, planning, organizing, etc matters of the Eco-Garden.
The Growing Green Thumbs Workshop Programme: a workshop programme developed by Geo-Council, held every semester or every 2 or 3 months. The programme revolve around the Eco-Garden too.
Geo-Council is also actively involved in national competitions (e.g. Bayer Young Environmental Envoy, Greenwave Project Competition etc) and awards (e.g. HSBC/NYAA Environmental Award, Eco friend Award etc) which allow students to gain additional national recognition and achievements, win highly rewarding prizes (e.g. overseas exchange programme, prized-vouchers etc), and at the same time fulfill their NYAA Gold-Award commitment.
