Dear NYAA Members,

NATIONAL YOUTH FORUM 2013 ON THE IMPORTANCE OF A COHESIVE SOCIETY THROUGH INTEGRATION

Although Singapore has enjoyed communal harmony and peaceful existence among foreigners from all over the world for many years, we cannot take this for granted. As Singapore currently faces low fertility rates, which will eventually lead to a significant decline in our population, coupled with a rapidly ageing population, Singapore has no choice but to adopt an open policy to attract new migrants who are willing to settle and make Singapore their home.

New citizens of many races coming from different parts of the world, different cultures, and different religious backgrounds joining Singapore citizens and residents can result in conflict due to a lack of understanding. We need to embrace these new citizens and make them feel welcome in their new home so that they too can help contribute to our development and process.

In line with this, the NYAA Gold Award Holders' Alumni with the support of the NYAA Council and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth will be organising a National Youth Forum on the Importance of a Cohesive Society through Integration on

Date : Saturday, 21 September 2013,
Venue : ITE College East Auditorium
Time : 9am to 4.30pm.

The Guest-of-Honour is Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth. Minister Wong will engage in a dialogue session with participants to discuss how we can work together in harmony to understand each other better and to help Singapore move forward as a cohesive society.

The morning segment will end up with a lunch followed by an Amazing Race where Singaporeans and non-Singaporeans will explore Singapore’s cultural and religious sites and places of interest.

The Amazing Race event will have 10 members per team and will end at 4.30pm with a Prize Presentation. The winning team will receive $500.00, the first runner-up will receive $300.00, and the second runner-up will receive $200.00 cash prizes.

Those who are interested to join this event, we can form a team to participate in the amazing race and bond as well, please sign up here !
